Here is a list of the most common questions that our customers ask us.

If you can not find the answer to a question that you have, feel free to give one of the team a call on 08450 262 575

What is a shipping container made from?

All shipping containers are made from high tensile, rust inhibiting Corten steel.

Corten steel will not rust through which makes a shipping container extremely strong and weather proof. A rigid steel framework supports the corrugated Corten steel walls with double doors at one end. All containers have a 27mm treated timber floor that sits on a steel plinth.

What are the dimensions and weight of a shipping container?

We have varying shapes and sizes of shipping containers available to you. Please refer to our Shipping Container Specifications page for a full list.

Remember that we can modify your container to suit your needs. Have a look at Modifications and Specialized to see what we can do.

What is the difference between a 'One Trip' shipping container and an

'A Grade' shipping container?

Virtually every shipping container in the world has been built in China.

A 'One Trip' container is essentially brand new, it has made just one sea voyage from China.

'A Grade' containers may have made more than one sea journey or had other uses in the past.

No matter whether you chose a 'One Trip' or 'A Grade' container, we guarantee that your container will remain wind and watertight for a minimum of two years.

Can I put my shipping container anywhere?

Your container will be delivered by HIAB (a lorry with a crane). So long as there is adequate access to the prospective site without the lorry driving on soft ground there should be no problem.

Under no circumstances will a HIAB drive on grass (though this does not mean that the container can not be placed on grass).

For more information, have a look at our Delivery Overview page or call us on 08450 262 575 to speak to one of the team.

Do I need planning permission?

No!

A shipping container is classed as a temporary structure that does not require any planning permission.

How do I secure my shipping container?

We can have your container fitted with a lock box and high security padlock. Alternatively, we can supply you with a specialist Bulldog Container Lock.

See our Security & Accessories page for more information on locking systems.

How long will my shipping container last?

All of our containers come with a 100% wind and watertight guarantee.

Do I need to maintain my shipping container?

Very little maintenance is required to keep your shipping container in good working order.

They are made from corten steel and are designed to withstand the wear and tear of numerous sea journeys.

You may want to grease the door hinges from time to time to ensure ease of opening.

Is condensation / damp a problem?

Even if the goods that you are storing contain zero moisture (highly unlikely), the air inside your container does contain moisture and therefore the container is susceptible to condensation.

Regular opening of the container will help avoid this though you may want to consider adding a moisture trap to your container - we can supply you with these.

Alternatively, we can supply you with an insulated container which will eradicate condensation altogether.

Can I stack one shipping container on top of another?

Yes!

Shipping containers are designed to be stacked. Please be aware that our HIAB drivers can only stack two high.

Where is your nearest shipping container depot?

We have Depot Locations throughout the UK.

Can I hire a shipping container?

Yes!
